Inches from the Earth: Program Schedule and Workshops

Brunch & Learn with the Artists (members only) 
April 24, 12pm ­ 1pm Members are invited to gather at the Metal Museum for a Brunch and Learn session with participating artists in Inches from the Earth. Artists will talk and answer questions concerning their work in the exhibition while enjoying a Sunday brunch. 

Gallery Talk with the Curator & Artists 
April 24, 2:30pm ­ 3pm The public is invited to listen to a gallery talk between the Metal Museum’s curator, Grace Stewart, and artists participating in Inches from the Earth. Artists will discuss their work individually, as a group and answer any questions guests may have. 

Reception​ April 24, 3pm-5pm 
Join us as we celebrate the opening of Inches from the Earth. This event is open to the public, and wine, beer and horderves will be served. Foundry Workshop: ​Nature Inspired Wall Plaques​| April 30, 1pm ­ 5pm This workshop will be hosted by the Metal Museum’s Foundry and will have a special focus on “nature inspired” design. Drawing inspiration from Inches from the Earth the foundry staff will teach techniques for carving into a resin bonded tile mold. Molds will be poured in iron on May 14 and can be picked up during business hours after May 15.

Blacksmith Workshop
Spiders & Bugs​ May 1, 10 am ­ 5 pm 
This workshop will be hosted by the Metal Museum’s Blacksmith Shop giving an introduction to a variety of techniques used in the shop including forging, welding and plasma cutting. Learn how to make your own spider or bug inspired by the themes from Inches from the Earth. 

Blacksmith Workshop
Consider Yourself Royalty​ May 21­ and 22, 9 am-5pm 
This workshop will be hosted by the Metal Museum’s Blacksmith Shop and special and artist in Inches from the Earth, Stephanie Polk. Using both traditional and non­traditional metalworking techniques the shop staff teach you how to create a tiara or crown.
