Through the multimedia work of Brent Green and Heather Benning, "de | constructing home" examines the relationship between the physical structure of the house and the idea of home. On the surface, Green and Benning appear to activate domestic nostalgia toward different ends, alternately constructing and destroying, monumentalizing and trivializing. In both cases, home (or the memory of home) is revealed to be at once intimate and alien, accessible and elusive. Curated in partnership with Karen Patterson, assistant curator at the John Michael Kohler Arts Center.

Clough-Hanson Gallery is located inside Clough Hall on the Rhode College campus. The gallery is open from 11 am until 5 pmTuesdays through Saturdays. The gallery is closed on Sundays and Mondays. Admission to the gallery is always free.

This exhibition is part of This Must Be the Place, a year-long series of exhibitions and events examining art's relationship to place. The series culminates in a conference organized by the Memphis Center at Rhodes College on February 18 and 19.
