Opening reception for Tributaries: Andrew Hayes
Sunday, January 12, 3-5pm

Andrew Hayes will be present at this opening reception to talk about how he combines the rigidity of metal with the fragility of paper in his paradoxical sculpture. Of his unique combination of books and steel, Hayes says, “The pages allow me to achieve form, surface, and texture that are appealing to me. The book as an object is full of fact and story. I take my sensory appreciation for the book as a material and employ the use of metal to create a new form, and hopefully a new story.” Hayes, who recently completed a fellowship at the Penland School of Crafts, is based in Asheville, North Carolina.
