Curator Talk: Angels and Tomboys: Girlhood in 19thCentury American Art

Curator Holly Connor will explore how American artists reflected, but also shaped, interpretations of 19th-century girlhood.  While angelic, demure, and domestic girls were the pervasive stereotype, Dr. Connor will analyze such subversive portrayals as tomboys, working children, and adolescents.
