Pecha Kucha at Crosstown Arts (Featuring Me!!)
The first official Pecha Kucha Night in Memphis will be held at Crosstown Arts on Thursday, May 3. Pecha Kucha Nights happen several times a year in over 500 cities around the globe and we’re excited to add Memphis to that list. You (and everyone you know) are invited and welcome as it’s a free event, open to the public, with no tickets or reservations needed.
Pecha Kucha is essentially a presentation format of showing 20 images for 20 seconds each. Presentations can be on any topic and are as varied and diverse as the people giving them. Doors open at 6 pm and the series of eight presentations from begin at 7 pm. Beverages and snacks will be available.
Pecha Kucha Nights began in Tokyo as an opportunity for artists, designers and architects to show samples of their work, but have expanded to include anyone from the community sharing a wide array of interesting and often hilarious topics. The audience is made up of anyone who wants to come and enjoy seeing what other people are interested in.
Being a presenter is not a competitive or juried process. Simply request to be a presenter at an upcoming Pecha Kucha Night (we'll announce the date for Volume 2 soon) by emailing christopher@crosstownarts.
If you’re wondering what “Pecha Kucha” means, it draws its name from the Japanese term for the sound of “chit chat”.
